April 2008
Stephanie Thomas has been appointed to the post of Fibroid Embolisation Clinical Nurse Specialist at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital. This is an exciting new post, believed to be the first such appointment in the UK, that will see Stephanie play a pivotal role in co-ordinating the fibroid embolisation service for NHS patients at Heartlands Hospital. She will assist Dr. Crowe in out-patient clinics and in the interventional theatre, co-ordinate follow up and be a point of contact for patients.
Originally from Tobago, previously a midwife and health visitor, Stephanie brings a wealth of experience in Gynaecology and has been working on the Interventional Radiology team at Heartlands since June 2007. Says Stephanie “This role is a tremendous opportunity for me to help improve the quality of life of a group of women who may not have realised there was an alternative to hysterectomy.”
