A novel expert patient programme has been launched as an enhancement to the patient information booklets and counselling already offered to patients considering fibroid embolisation. Volunteer patients who have already undergone uterine artery embolisation for their fibroids are very kindly making themselves available to talk to others considering the treatment. Initially offered at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital the service is co-ordinated by Fibroid Embolisation Clinical Nurse Specialist, Stephanie Thomas.
